Kairi is one of several original characters appearing in the Kingdom Hearts manga series and a main character. Kairi lives on Destiny Islands along with her friends, Sora and Riku.
'Kingdom Hearts'
Kairi, Sora and Riku dream of leaving their home Destiny Islands, on a raft to see other worlds. But little do they know, it wouldn't be a raft that would take them on their journey. When the Heartless arrived on Destiny Islands, the world was taken but in the Secret Cave, Kairi was in their waiting for Sora. When the Door to Darkness opened, Kairi was blown towards Sora and stayed there until Sora's visit to Hollow Bastion. Kairi is seen in Traverse Town as an illusion from Sora's memory. Kairi is at Hollow Bastion when Sora's arrives right in front of the world's heart. She is in a deep slumber and only Sora can awaken her with the Keyblade to People's hearts keyblade. It is then that Ansem, Seeker of Darkness reveals that Kairi is a Princess of Heart. One of the seven princesses, used to open Kingdom Hearts. Once her heart is returned to her, she sees Sora disappear. She is then towed into the Ballroom by Donald Duck and Goofy. There is one lone heartless that follows them there. Kairi says its Sora and proves it by hugging him. She is then taken back to Traverse Town to find out what will happen next. Once in Traverse Town, she gives Sora her wayfinder in hopes he returns home safely with Riku. Once Sora defeats Ansem, Seeker of Darkness she is then taken to Kingdom Hearts where she and Sora exchange a few worlds before she drifts off on a strip of Destiny Islands and Sora, Kingdom Hearts. Kairi then begins her waiting for Sora and Riku to arrive at home.
